Guitar Ensemble
CCA Information
In 2025, our school was awarded a grant by the National Arts Council (NAC) under the NAC Artist-in-School Scheme. This grant enabled us to engage a professional instructor to teach our students the fundamentals of classical guitar, with an emphasis on reading basic musical notation and an introduction to musical rudiments and guitar tablature.
Over the course of 10 structured sessions, students developed essential playing skills and successfully applied their learning by performing at the CCA Open House in November.
Recognising that participation in a guitar ensemble enhances cognitive development, musical depth, and long-term engagement, while also aligning well with the Singapore primary school context, including opportunities such as SYF competitions, the school strongly encourages student participation in this programme. This year, we are pleased to have 30 students enrolled.
Students are progressively trained in basic strumming, fingerpicking, and classical guitar techniques, equipping them with versatile musicianship for performances both within the school and at external events.
Looking ahead, we are excited to participate in a joint concert in early July at the Victoria Concert Hall, organised by The Guitar Fellowship of Singapore. As part of this collaboration, our students will have the opportunity to work with renowned Polish composer and classical guitar pedagogue, Tatiana Stachak. We are confident that this invaluable exposure will significantly elevate our students’ playing skills and musical artistry.
