Programme for Active Learning(PAL)

The Programme for Active Learning (PAL) is a major initiative under the Primary Education Review and Implementation (PERI) Committee to place greater emphasis on the development of soft skills and social-emotional competencies in Primary 1 and 2 pupils. PAL consists of modules of activities in two broad areas: Sports and Games and Outdoor Education, as well as Visual and Performing Arts, to give pupils exposure to these areas. PAL will be experiential in nature and will incorporate elements of fun and enjoyment.

Being a Phase 8 school, PAL lessons started at the beginning of this year for Primary 1 and 2 pupils. The pupils will undergo 6 PAL modules that include Sports and Games, Outdoor Education, Performing Arts (Drama) and Visual Arts.

These PAL modules are developed with the following objectives:

  1. To provide pupils with broad exposure and experiences through fun and varied activities in Sports & Games, Outdoor Education, Performing Arts (Drama & Dance) and Visual Arts.
  2. To facilitate holistic development of pupils in the five domains of moral, cognitive, physical, social and aesthetics.
  3. To provide varied avenues for pupils to develop social and emotional competencies.
